Appearance on Irish TV show Saturday Live with May You Never, to promote four upcoming gigs.
John Martyn at The Quays
ON APRIL 8 the great John Martyn plays a very special gig al The Quays. Martyn, one of the most gifted and brilliantly original singer/songwriter/musicians in contemporary music, has had an extraordinary career since he first gave notice in the early 70s that he wasn't prepared to be lied down to any particular conception of music by attaching fuzzbox, echoplex and phase-shift to his acoustic guitar. Purists beware!
One of the classic singer/songwriters and musicians of the last thirty years, John Martyn, will play two exclusive gigs at Roisin Dubh on Monday and Tuesday, December 5th and 6th. If you haven't got a ticket by now, then it's time to start hustling because those on sale after the gigs were announced sold out in a record-breaking two hours. That's the kind of reputation John Martyn has.
JOHN MARTYN was born in Glasgow in 1948, though never a great commercial success, John Martyn's eccentric brand of folk, elliptical songwriting, intimately bluesy singing, jazz flavoured music, has held steady appeal for critics and artists. Producing over 19 albums, John Martyn has proved himself a man of exceptional talent. He appeared in Galway on Friday, March 7th playing in Leisureland, beginning at 9.45 p.m. John Martyn played until 11.35.
Welcome Return to John Martyn
John Martyn makes a welcome return to the Castle tomorrow night at 8.30 and if his last performance here in October '83 is anything to go by this should be a most enjoyable gig.
John Martyn makes one of his rare solo concert appearances at the Castle, Salthill, on Saturday 15th, at 9 p.m. His last appearance here was at the ill fated Lisdoonvarna Festival.
