Tight Connection To My Heart

There's no lights tonight
And there's no moon.
There's just a hot-blooded singer
Singing 'Memphis in june'.
They beat the hell from a guy
In a powder-blue wig.
What seems so dangerous from a distance,
Up close never seems so big.

I could not take that blood in,
I could not call it wine.
I could not take your love,
And could not call it mine.

Tight connection;
You've got a tight connection to my heart.
You got a tight connection,
You've got a tight connection to my heart.
Deliver that tight connection,
Deliver it to me now.
Deliver that tight connection...

You want to talk to me?
Then go ahead and talk.
Whatever you'll say
Won't come as any shock at all.
Sweet madame Butterfly,
Lulled me to sleep
In this town without pity.
I'm going to get my coat
And feel the storm.
Darling stand beside me,
Keep me warm.

Tight connection;
I keep a tight connection to my heart.
You've got a tight connection,
You've got a tight connection to my heart.

[guitar solo]

I could not take that blood,
I could not call it wine.
I could not take your love,
And I could not call it mine.

I've got a tight connection;
You've got a tight connection to my heart.
You got a tight connection,
You've got a tight connection to my heart.

Tight connection,
Give me a tight connection.
Deliver that tight connection to my heart.
Tight connection.

Deliver that tight connection,
Deliver it now.
Deliver that tight connection,
Deliver it now.
Deliver that tight connection,
Tell me.
Deliver that tight connection,
Deliver it now.

sitenote:
This track was cut rather fast. It is probably John's most conscious attempt to produce a Hit Record. Didn't work out. At the time he told Trevor Dann:

"The one time I ever tried to make a single is of a Bob Dylan song. We went and did it in a day. Whereas it wasn't a hit single, actually I suppose it may have been really. [...] We did that in a morning. [...] It was the first time I have ever tried to do that, you know, very quickly and stuff. You get the words on Friday and Saturday morning, you are going to do it. It's good fun. Good way to work.
