Push The Boat Out was a weekly series ﬁlmed on board the Renfrew Ferry and hosted by ﬁddler Aly Bain and and accordionist Phil Cunningham. Weekly guests included Mary Black, John Martyn, Eddi Reader.
Filming took place during Glasgow's Mayfest in 1990, when Glasgow was European City Of Culture.
The first episode aired 23 February 1991 on BBC Scotland. This show was recorded Monday, 7 May 1990.

Shetland fiddler, Aly Bain, hosts this new series filmed aboard the glass-topped Renfrew ferry as she sailed down the Clyde during last summer's Glasgow Mayfest past picturesque collages of city lights and riverscapes. Joining him on the water are John Martyn, Eddi Reader, Mary Black, Carol Laula and fellow Shetlanders Violet Tulloch and Willie Johnson.
