STORMBRINGER – John And Beverley Martyn – Warner Bros 1854
Each of these artists has made a few records on their own, but their coming together has given birth to one of the more beautiful acoustic-style albums of the season. Possessed of rich and expressive voices, John and Beverley are heard on ten new songs, with the title tune giving the former a spotlight. Distaff member of the team shines most brightly on an extender track titled Sweet Honesty (incidentally, this cut features Band drummer Levon Helm, too). Deck could really establish this duo.
