JOHN Martyn is another of England's fine guitarist/ singers of whom little is heard here. But that's about to change.
Festival has just released his 1972 [sic] album Solid Air (Island L36109 [sic]) which, although uneven, highlights some of Martyn's positive qualities: his incisive acoustic guitar work and sensitive melodies - particularly Over The Hill and May You Never.
With Martyn are people of the calibre of bassist Danny Thompson (ex-Pentangle), Dave Mattacks, Dave Pegg, Richard Thompson and jazzman Tony Coe.
This tiny Australian review was published in Melbourne based The Age of Thursday 13 January 1977. I could not verify the catalogue numbers from this paper.
