Mike Harding Show

Mike Harding
BBC Radio 2

John Martyn Special

Mike played excerpts of a lot of songs from various sources.

Over The Hill, Dancing, Bless The Weather, Sweet Little Mystery, May You Never, Fairy Tale Lullaby, Seven Black Roses, Solid Air, Spencer The Rover, Johnny Too Bad, Hole In The Rain, May You Never (live), Over The Hill (live), Don't You Go, Singin' In The Rain and May You Never again.

The interesting bit is the live version of May You Never as it comes from a new release of Transatlantic Sessions material. It is the version with Kathy Mattea, Danny Thompson and Jerry Douglas, from the CD: Transatlantic Sessions 1, Whirlie Records WHIRLIECD15.

Ian Hepplewhite comments:

"It was interesting hearing the likes of Mike Harding, Ralph McTell, Eddie Reader, Dr Aly Bain MBE (brilliant Shetland violinist), Beth Orton, Danny Thompson, etc comment on John and his music. Aly said he was his favourite singer. He had a dark side which is one of the things that made him an interesting character and perhaps informed aspects of his music."
