John Martyn, the influential singer-songwriter whose career spans five decades, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards on Monday. Double bass player Danny Thompson, a life-long friend, discusses working with John, in particular the classic 1973 album Solid Air.
